Ideal launches employee engagement strategy

What are the future employee engagement challenges?Brighton-based smart buildings technology business Ideal has introduced an employee engagement and happiness programme for its 60 members of staff.

Run by The Happiness Index, the digital platform was designed to boost people strategy by improving performance and cultural health. Ideal employees can access more than 20 pre-built neuroscience-backed surveys, which help to create actionable insights to drive people strategy.

Staff start by taking a cultural assessment survey to map the primary happiness and engagement drivers across the business. Through the results of these surveys, Ideal will measure and analyse employee feedback through benchmarks, filter comparisons and heatmaps.

Staff also have access to an employee voice survey, which operates as a health check and engagement tool by asking two questions: ‘How are you feeling today?’ and ‘Why?’ This enables them to provide feedback in real-time.

Emily Bignell, head of people and culture at Ideal, said: “We’d already worked with Clive Hyland, head of neuroscience at The Happiness Index, to help us develop a quantum organisation model, which aims to strengthen the traditional definition of business structure and operating model. The next step was to replace our previous employee engagement tool with The Happiness Index. This will enable us to better listen to our people and embed the model’s neuroscience principles into how we measure happiness and engagement.

“Through investment in our people, training, and leadership, we have created an organisation where every person is part of a community and contributes to our overall success. By working with The Happiness Index platform, we are adopting a human led listening approach that aligns with our focus of delivering an outstanding employee experience.”
