Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) has enhanced its benefits for its working parents and those with caring responsibilities in the UK to drive diversity and inclusion within the organisation.

The benefits package includes an increase from six to 10 free dependent care sessions, which provide working parents and carers with practical support and flexibility to continue working. One session is equal to one day at nursery and up to five hours of in-home adult care.

From 1 April, fully paid UK paternity leave will be extended from two to six weeks to give partners of primary caregivers the chance to spend more time with their families and parental transition coaching will be introduced for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) employees taking maternity or parental leave of at least six months. One-to-one sessions for working parents and their managers have been designed to equip them with the clarity, capability and confidence to continue their careers.

In addition, a tax-free nursery will be offered to UK employees during the employer’s 2024 benefits window in August to September to make early childcare more affordable.

According to MUFG, these are part of its ongoing efforts to foster a diverse, inclusive and equitable culture and to make it a more inclusive place for working parents to develop their careers. It aims to drive equality of caregiving, leading to greater diversity among future leaders and a lower gender pay gap.

Karen Owen, managing director and co-chief human resources officer of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group EMEA, said: “At MUFG, we recognise balancing a career and having a family can be a challenge. We are committed to supporting our people as they navigate their personal commitments as well as growing their careers. As we launch these new and enhanced benefits we intend to further enable and support a more flexible work-life balance.”
