Exclusive: Kirklees Council and Leeds City Council shortlisted for Best public sector benefits

Kirklees Council and Leeds City Council have been shortlisted in the category Best public sector benefits at the Employee Benefits Awards 2023.

New for 2023, this award is aimed at public sector organisations that cover public goods or government services, such as law enforcement, the military, infrastructure, public transport, public education, healthcare and government organisations.

Judges were looking at steps a public sector employer has taken to implement a successful benefits package or initiative for its employees. This could include introducing support to help employees through the cost-of-living crisis, offering financial wellbeing initiatives, adapting benefits to meet the needs of a flexible or hybrid-working model, and introducing health and wellbeing initiatives.

Other examples are launching or expanding an employee discounts or voluntary benefits scheme, introducing or extending benefits to support working parents or carers, taking steps to support employees’ mental wellbeing, enhancing diversity and inclusion initiatives, and introducing or revamping a motivation or recognition scheme.

The full category shortlist is:

  • Kirklees Council
  • Leeds City Council
  • Mid Yorks Hospitals NHS Trust
  • Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • University of Lincoln
