Communications firm Cisco, professional services network Deloitte and hotel chain Hilton have been named as some of the best workplaces for parents in 2023.

Through Great Place To Work’s Trust Index survey, employees shared confidential feedback about their organisation’s culture by responding to 60 statements on a five-point scale and answering two open-ended questions.

List rankings are based on this feedback, while employers also provide information about their parental leave, adoption, flexible schedules, childcare and dependent health care benefits. Great Place To Work then identifies the organisations that offer the most generous, caring and innovative cultures that reflect a genuine commitment to meet the diversity of their people’s needs inside and outside the workplace.

For example, Robert Half, which ranked 70th on the list, offers expansive family planning benefits, including adoption assistance and coverage for fertility treatments. Its Support for Families initiative provides backup care for children or elders, discounts on virtual and in-home tutoring, and free online mindfulness and yoga classes for the entire family. It also offers flexibility around remote work.

The top 10 best workplaces for parents are:

  1. Cisco
  2. Bain and Company
  3. Deloitte
  4. NVIDIA
  5. Marriott International
  6. Hilton
  7. Comcast NBCUniversal
  8. Slalom
  9. PricewaterhouseCoopers
  10. Synchrony

Ted Kitterman, content manager for Great Place to Work, said: “Employees tell us whether or not leaders are accessible, if they communicate honestly and clearly, and if their actions match their words. They tell us if they feel respected as individuals, if they receive support for their wellbeing and personal development, and if they have opportunities to contribute, and appreciation for their work.”

Lynne Smith, senior vice president of global human resources at Robert Half, added: “We are committed to providing a positive employee experience for the parents and caregivers in our workforce. Our comprehensive benefits and wellbeing programmes help to meet the needs of our employees at every stage of life, from paid parental leave to virtual healthcare and flexible work; allowing our people and their families to live their best lives at home and at work.”
