For the past several years, the International Foundation has strategically focused on the topic of financial well-being, including how employers can provide financial education to their workers—the goal being, of course, to help ensure the financial and retirement security of workers and their families.

And, since April is National Financial Capability Month in the U.S., the Talking Benefits pod squad decided we’d like to focus on this issue and give our listeners some resources that they themselves can use and make available to their employees and plan participants.

Host and International Foundation Vice President of Content, Julie Stich, CEBS, had the opportunity to chat with two staffers (Sangeetha Malaiyandi, financial well-being researcher, and Laura Schlachtmeyer, senior financial education content specialist) from the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

The CFPB is the governmental agency tasked with enforcing federal consumer financial laws and protecting consumers in the financial marketplace. Part of its mission is to create tools, answer common questions, and provide tips that help consumers navigate their financial choices and shop for the deals that work best for them.

The episode answered all of our burning questions about financial well-being, from the pandemic’s impact to how employers can help their employees become more financially secure.
