Energy business General Electric has agreed to give 75 employees at the GE Steam plant in Rugby a series of one-off payments amounting to £15,600 each.
The agreement ended a long-running pay dispute between GE Steam and members of the trade union Unite, which led to intermittent strike action from April this year, and centred around flexible working payments, among other financial concerns.
Sharon Graham, general secretary at Unite, said: “Our members at GE Steam stood on the picket line for months and their determination and solidarity paid off with this significant pay deal.
“This great result is yet another reminder that Unite’s absolute focus on improving jobs, pay and conditions is winning for our members.”
Zoe Mayou, regional officer at Unite, added: “By standing together in their union, our members forced the company back into negotiations and secured this well-deserved deal.”
