Whether or not an employee feels aligned with a company's culture is critical to talent retention, and it seems like leading organizations within the tech space have positioned themselves well.

Eighty-five percent of employees admit to having worked at a company with a toxic culture, according to a recent survey from company insight platform Glassdoor. The tech industry, however, ranks surprisingly well when it comes to culture, about 3% higher than other sectors. To help job seekers looking to make a move to tech without sacrificing their values, the platform compiled a list of the 10 highest-rated cultures, according to data and feedback from over 5,000 professionals across industries.

"It was surprising to see that some of those 'household name' tech companies did not crack the list," says Daniel Zhao, a lead economist at Glassdoor. "However, the 10 companies that did appear on the list stand out, putting their culture and values first."

According to Glassdoor, these celebrated companies recently made policy changes that impacted culture, like fostering inclusive work environments and providing hybrid or remote work benefits. Dropbox came in first place with a culture rating of 4.64 out of 5, and is notable for offering a unique program called Gratitude Post, says Zhao, where employees can send each other notes that include messages of gratitude. Samsara came in second place with a culture rating of 4.63 out of 5, thanks to its availability of multiple wellness days that employees can take as needed.
