EU approves major funding increase for new circular economy and clean energy projects

The European Commission has approved more than €380 million of funding for 168 new projects across Europe as part of its LIFE Programme for the environment and climate action. As part of the European Green Deal, it believes that the projects funded can help the EU become climate-neutral by 2050 and reach climate, energy and environmental goals. They aim to support biodiversity, nature restoration and a circular economy while contributing to the clean energy transition across the continent.

A new poll claims that the majority of business leaders say that mental health support isn’t available for their employees or isn’t utilised enough, despite acknowledging how poor mental health impacts business performance. Channel 4 starts reproductive health and hormone testing trial

Channel 4 started a six month trial this week that offers reproductive health and hormone testing to its employees, personalised to their symptoms and goals. Through a partnership with reproductive healthcare business Hertility, staff will be able to order a hormone and fertility test worth £149, and have access to an NHS approved health assessment and blood test, which can screen for reproductive health issues.

Mental health flagged as major concern in HSE annual stats

The estimated number of workers in Great Britain suffering from work-related illness is 1.8 million with mental health issues related to stress, depression, and anxiety making up around half of all cases. That is the headline figure in the latest annual statistics report from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Eight in 10 (82%) employees either undergoing or preparing for fertility treatment would only consider working for an employer that offered fertility benefits , according to research by UK virtual fertility clinic Apricity. The survey of 500 UK people, with 40% undergoing fertility treatment and 60% preparing for it, found that 61% would expect their employer to cover these costs either in full or part, and that 84% funded their treatment themselves.
