Professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) has introduced a new shopping discounts portal for its 22,000 UK employees, as well as hosting virtual events to help support financial wellbeing.

The portal, provided by Reward Gateway, replaces an older system and aims to give staff easier access to a wider range of discounts than was previously available.

To mark Talk Money Week (7 to 11 November 2022), PWC ran virtual events on aspects of financial wellbeing including budgeting, property costs and savings and investments. The firm’s mental health and wellbeing partner, Frog Systems, also hosted a livestream in which expert panellists discussed how to build financial health and resilience.

Earlier this year, PWC introduced the Money Talks hub, provided by Close Brothers, which offers employees guidance on subjects related to financial security. The employer reported that hundreds have used the platform since its launch in August in order to gain support and guidance, as well as share information and tips.

In order to meet the demand for financial education and support, the firm has hosted a range of virtual events through its Money Talks hub, to help people understand the issues affecting them, and the practical steps they can take to improve financial wellbeing.

For example, PWC hosted an energy saving livestream for all UK staff, hosted by its own power and utilities leader Vicky Parker, alongside founder of the Big Clean Switch Jon Fletcher. This session discussed practical tips to reduce energy consumptions at home, as well as discussing the firm’s own net zero commitments.

Ian Elliott, chief people officer at PWC, said: “With cost pressures front of mind for many, financial wellbeing, alongside physical and mental wellbeing, is increasingly important and feels a natural extension of the role of a responsible employer.

“Our people are looking to us for guidance and information, and we want to empower them with the knowledge they need. Alongside this know-how, we are also providing targeted financial support to help our people over the winter.”
