UPS Settles EEOC Religious Discrimination Lawsuit for $4.9 Million

United Parcel Service has agreed to pay $4.9 million over claims that it discriminated against male workers and job applicants who wore beards or long hair because of their religion. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said the Atlanta-based company’s uniform policy forbids male employees who interact with customers from keeping their hair longer than collar-length or have facial hair below their lips.
