Spire Healthcare appoints group people director

Independent hospital group Spire Healthcare has appointed Rachel King (pictured) as group people director as of this month.

Reporting to Spire’s chief executive officer Justin Ash, King was added to the executive committee and will lead a team of multi-disciplinary HR specialists, supporting its 14,500 employees across England, Wales and Scotland.

Her remit includes overseeing the group’s engagement, culture, resourcing and talent development, while also supporting staff to learn and develop through its clinical and non-clinical apprenticeship schemes.

Previously, King was group people director at Camelot, the operator of The National Lottery, where she was a member of the executive committee and led its transformation of its people strategy and culture. She also held a number of senior executive roles in organisations spanning the media, broadcasting, technology and retail sectors.

King said: “Spire Healthcare is an organisation that has consistently demonstrated its commitment to supporting staff to succeed, and it’s great to join at a time of sustained growth for the business. It’s our colleagues who enable us to make a positive difference to our patients’ lives, so I’m looking forward to helping deliver the best environment and learning experience for our people.”

Ash added: “I am delighted to welcome Rachel, who brings great experience to Spire in developing a positive people experience. I look forward to Rachel’s contributions as a valued member of Spire’s senior team and her input to the delivery of our corporate strategy.”
