Siemens and Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council shortlisted for Best pensions strategy

Stockton-on-Tees Borough CouncilTechnology firm Siemens and Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council are among the employers shortlisted for Best pensions strategy at the Employee Benefits Awards 2024.

This award was created to recognise organisations that have developed a pensions strategy which best meets the needs of employees, whether that includes reviewing and changing existing pensions provision, introducing a new scheme to run alongside existing provision, or implementing workplace savings options for staff, among other criteria.

The full category shortlist is:

  • HSB Engineering Insurance
  • Siemens
  • Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council
  • Take-Two Interactive Software UK
  • Wood

At last year’s ceremony, kitchen furniture business Howdens won the award due to the pensions strategy it developed that met the needs of its workforce. The judges thought that it had clear commercial logic and noted that reaching this workforce must have been extremely challenging.

A Howden spokesperson said: “We worked really hard with our pensions strategy. This is a result of a lot of hard work from when we closed our defined benefit pension scheme and set up our defined contribution scheme. We wanted to level up what we are providing across all of our employees, improve our contributions and educate our members to improve their outcomes.”

The Employee Benefits Awards, now in its 22nd year, will be held at the Honourable Artillery Company, London on Friday 14 June. The daytime event will include a drinks reception, three-course meal, entertainment and the chance to network with industry professionals.
