Ovo Energy When Ovo Energy took over SSE Energy Services in 2020, it needed to harmonise benefits across the two organsiations. Employees would receive a flex pay arrangement , worth an additional 9% of salary. This would incorporate an employer pension contribution of 4%, and an extra 5% which could be used to purchase other benefits. Central to the benefits overhaul would be Ovo’s Plan Zero concept, which aims to reduce the organisation’s carbon emissions to net zero by 2035.

Lancashire County Council ordered to pay £800,000 in discrimination case

An employment tribunal has ruled that Lancashire County Council must pay out more than £800,000 to a teacher who was made to reapply for her job while on sick leave with cancer and then sacked. Anne Healey worked as an early years specialist for the council’s schools improvement service since 2012 after a teaching career. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2014 and had periods of sickness absence while undergoing chemotherapy.

Government issues formal warning to council over four-day working week

New research from WEALTH at work[1] has revealed that many full-time workers admit that money worries are impacting their work, with 23% struggling to concentrate and 15% saying their productivity has decreased. 16% have also incurred debts for the first time in their professional lives this year (excluding mortgage debt). Furthermore, homelife is being impacted too as financial concerns in the last year have made many lose sleep (28%), feel embarrassed (26%), argue with family and friends (18%)
