A study by Bateman & Crant; 2003, Lepper, Corpus, & Iyengar; 2005 have addressed this issue. Workers in a factory are working overtime to get more bonus. A motivated employee will work twice as hard and find themselves working for a more significant cause than just for the salary. At times, it is not about the salary.
