S hockingly (and unsurprisingly) enough, most Bangladeshi women don’t get maternity benefits, which include paid leaves and childcare support, as dictated by the law. According to said State document, employers are to allot 4 months of paid leave, 8 weeks prior to delivery and 8 weeks post-childbirth, to pregnant women.

The Parental Bereavement Act was passed in the United Kingdom in 2014 and came into effect in March 2015. In the United Kingdom, the Parental Bereavement Act 2018 entitles employees to take two weeks’ leave due to the death of a child under 18. In some cases, it may be possible to negotiate paid leave with the employer.

Parents are allowed 39 weeks of paid leave that is given out of 80% of the worker’s salary. Each parent gets 13 weeks off from work.
