Average pay growth high but failing to keep pace with inflation

Growth in total pay , including bonuses, was 5.9% in the final quarter of 2022, while pay growth excluding bonuses was 6.7%, according to the latest labour market data from the Office of National Statistics (ONS). For pay excluding bonuses, this was the highest growth rate seen outside of the Covid-19 pandemic. In the public sector, the growth rate was less extreme at 4.2%, while the private sector saw a growth rate of 7.3% on average.

NatWest acquires majority shareholding in savings fintech Cushon

Abellio gives London bus drivers 18% pay rise

Transportation business Abellio has given 1,800 bus drivers in London a pay uplift of 18%, putting an end to long-running industrial action.
