Global law firm Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP) has expanded its parental leave policies across the business, effective from 1 July. UK employees will be eligible for 26 weeks of leave at 100% pay, as well as 13 weeks of statutory maternity pay for primary carers, and 13 weeks at 100% pay for secondary carers. Shared parental leave was increased to 26 weeks at full pay and 13 weeks of statutory pay.

The overall UK gender pay gap has fallen at its fastest annual rate in six years, according to research by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC). The national median pay gap declined by 0.7%, from 12.9% in 2021-22 to 12.2% in 2022-23, while the median hourly pay gap decreased from 9.8% in 2021-22 to 9.2% in 2022-23. Since reporting became mandatory in 2017 for UK employers with more than 250 employees, the mean gender pay gap was found to have fallen by 1.2%, from 13.4% in 2017 to 12.2% in 2023.
